We are here for you

Pets At Rest is an experienced, family run business, established in December 1993 by Miles and Barbara Mitchell, who were later joined by one of their grandaughters Catherine. Since the sad passing of Miles in 2001, and Barbara in 2017, Catherine has continued to successfully run Pets At Rest, alongside  her mother Mary, and Lucy. As a family, they take pride in offering  sensitivity, and personal care to their clients.

Catherine has bred both dogs and horses and  understands how traumatic and heartbreaking it can be to lose a family friend. We are here to offer you a sensitive, reliable and compassionate service at a very sad time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of out most frequent questions and answers, if you have any queries, please feel free to contact us.

All pets that come to us are cremated separately with great care and respect ensuring that you receive your own pets ashes. We treat our clients pets as we would want our own pets to be treated. We provide a certificate of cremation that is returned with your pets ashes.

We can collect your pet either from your home or your chosen veterinary practice. Alternatively you may prefer to bring your pet along to our farewell room where you can spend some time saying goodbye.

Please ask your veterinary practice if they use us. If they do not we can still collect your pet from them. Some practices use the large nationwide crematoriums but it is common for owners to prefer for their pet to be cared for by their local crematorium where a personal service is guaranteed.

Catherine or Lucy will hand deliver your pets ashes to your home at a day and time that is convenient for yourself or if preferred you can come and collect them from us. We NEVER post ashes or send by courier, they are far too precious.

If your pet has been put to sleep at your chosen veterinary practice and they use Pets At Rest, the practice will be able to make the arrangements on your behalf. If they do not use us, please inform them that you would like Pets At Rest to collect your pet and get in touch with us yourself. If your pets passes away at home or you are planning for the vet to put your pet to sleep at home, contact us to make arrangements for you to either bring your pet to our farewell room or for us to collect your pet.

Please contact us and we will be able to give you our prices. Prices vary depending on the type of pet, their breed and size and also whether you require or collection service.
